The Joe Idlette Jr. Legacy Scholarship Gala celebrates education, family, perseverance, and the enduring impact of Joe Idlette Jr.'s life by honoring outstanding students who exemplify academic excellence, leadership, character, and service. This evening is about continuing a family legacy by opening doors for future generations.

About Joe Idlette Jr.

Joe Idlette Jr. believed deeply in faith, family, education, perseverance, and creating opportunities for future generations. After desegregating schools in his county, he served as Chair of the Indian River County School Board and held a National School Board seat for 20 years.

His legacy lives on through this scholarship — and through every student empowered to pursue higher education.

The Award

The Joe Idlette Jr. Legacy Scholarship

Each recipient receives a scholarship covering the full cost of attendance for one academic year. The scholarship is renewable annually provided the recipient:

LaVonne Idlette, Olympian, MBA, Esq., Joe Idlette Jr.'s granddaughter, will present the awards on behalf of the Idlette Family Trust.

  • Maintains a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.3
  • Demonstrates satisfactory academic progress
  • Remains on pace to graduate within four years
